Rav Ashi (352–427) was a seventh generation Baboloynian Amora. He most famous for his role in the creation of the Talmud Bavli. Rav Ashi was born on the day that Rava passed away and served as the head of the Talmudic Academy of Sura for 60 years.
There are two opinions (Kadmonanue and Gabbai) regarding the location of Kever Rav Ashi both are at the Northern edge of Israel near the Banias and the Lebanese border. Kadmonanue's version is right near Kibbutz Manara on a small hill called El Abud.
Rav Ashi (352-427) was a seventh generation Babylonian Amora. He was most famous for his role in the creation of the Talmud Bavli. He was in fact the first Amora to collect and edit the Talmud. Rav Ashi was born on the day that Rava passed away. He served as head of the yeshiva in Sura for over 50 years. He built it up, both spiritually and physically to be the major center of Torah in Babylonia.
